Class Exercise : Emoting with basic elements

Choose 2 words, make abstract stuff. Cool.
Personally I love abstract stuff. I prefer to produce things that have a story/meaning behind it. but sometimes, it's just plain difficult. BUT i'm always looking for it. The meaning, the story.

Bold

Passage

Class Exercise : Camera Angles

Mid shot. Eye level.
The eye level shot allows the audience to better understand what the subject is doing. It put emphasis on what the subject is interacting with as well.

Long shot. High angle.
The high angle shot usually gives the viewer a sense of superiority. In this case, however it only shows that a person is looking up at something. Good to tell the audience that the subject saw something followed by a zoom into the subject's face to show emotions. (Shock) Then do a down to top angle shot to show the audience what the subject saw.

Bird's view
Normally used to show the whole scenery in movies. Usually a bird's eye view would give the audience that someone/something is looking down at something.

Over shoulder shot

This shot shows the subject from the prespective of another who is usually looking at the subject.

Class Exercise : Icons and indexes

Iconic: Drawing of an elephant represents well, an elephant.

Indexical: The elephant's trunk and tusk indexes the elephant without showing the full creature.

Photo story~

Above is the storyboard i came up with for this assignment. The idea was that a dude1 stole dude2's PSP/phone.
Dude 2 finds out and chases after dude1.
Dude1 jumps off the second floor and lands safely.
Dude2 conjures a FIREBALL(photoshop effects here!) then throws it out. causing smoke to flew
Dude2 leans out and checks whether dude1 got hit.
Dude2 goes down to retrieve the PSP/phone

I tried out with different angles for this assignment.

The ones with one of the characters closer to the camera I wanted it so that the empahsis is on the character doing something.

First picture! I wanted to show the magnitude of the fridge. So I put myself flat on the ground to take that picture. This goes for the second shot as well. but more emphasis that the character is moving away.

the sixth picture, I wanted the bigger animal to be towering over the smaller one. So i took a down up angle to show that effect.

So the big cat launches himself at the smaller one but gets flinged away instead.

In the beginning, I wanted to have people acting in my photo shoot with some special effects that I can add in with photoshop.

Then again! It was tough trying to people to act for me, so I was just walking around in the FASS club room and saw some soft toys. I made friends with them and got to act for me! No complains whatsoever! haha

The following is my storyboard. It's the initial one that i wanted to do, with all the human actors and stuff. I could picture them in my head but the actual doing is always difficult for me.

Post of a Postcard!

Sooooo the theme that was given to us this time round was Youth! However, being a youth... I didn't know what would be considered youth when it comes to creating a work of art.

The common things that I could conjure out of my brain were

1. Breakdancing.

2. The Youth Olympic Games.

3. Clubbing

I looked at my choice and thought... These are not the factors that I, MYSELF would like to associate with when people talk about youth. It was simply not me. I don't breakdance, I'm not a fan of the games and clubbing is not all that fun anyway.

So I set out, trying to find something that I could call youth or at least be at ease with myself that I can label it as youth. I asked myself what was it that I wanted at this point of age? Then suddenly, THERE WAS LIGHT! lol

I decided that all I wanted to do was to stand out. In one way or another. To sort of like just, got he other direction as what most people are doing! Be it right or wrong... It may not seems like a good idea sometims but I am definitely not a person who loves to follow rules.
The words I felt that it should be more un-organized. So as to simulate youths being different and not all that organized in life and they have their own ways of placing their own things into order.
The arrow also points to the words Stand out!!! which is the main "attraction" so cool for the postcard.

I went ahead and made the following postcard :D

This is one of the words that I am proud of. At least for the idea part. I still feel that more professionalism could be added to the work.

These are the few colors I have tried to use for the postcard. I tried red because it shouts ME! haha No really, I feel that red can be easily associated to youth and it stands out more. However, a full red postcard doesn't look right so I tried different background colors. I wanted the arrow that was going the other way stand out. So the color of the arrow is alwasy in contrast with the background.

Infograph

The task this time round is to create an infograph.

I think i could have done an outline for the words that explain the different pollution and the solutions.

I wanted to have a more.. professional feel to the work but i simpliy couldn't aquire that amount of skill within a short amount of time... So far, infograph is the hardest to do among all the other works...

I wanted to have one side of the Earth sort of like collapsing while the other looking 'healthy'.
Since the title of the infograph is the thin red line, i wanted to also show that the we are on the brink of Earth's destruction. Due to technical difficulties, I could only create the work above. But i'll keep trying!
